• Toad-like appearance 

Distribution

• Found in freshwater, estuarine and marine environments.
• Most species live in shallow coastal waters, some are found on the outer continental shelf.
   

Habitat

• Generally live on sandy and muddy bottoms in tropical and temperate environments
