Boarfish Reef boasts all the colours of the rainbow, with a vibrant array of marine life and habitats. Located roughly halfway between Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale, the reef begins in around 10 metres of water and drops down to 22 metres, featuring a spectacular system of caves, drop-offs, and overhangs.
The reef is home to an abundance of plant and animal life, including the striking Blue Devil fish, crayfish, and, of course, the reef’s namesake Boarfish. Near its southern end lies a large, 4-metre Admiralty anchor, now encrusted with marine growth and serving as a unique dive feature.
At the northern tip of the reef, a sprawling sponge garden extends for approximately 400 metres, offering a stunning display of soft corals and sponges.
