Paradise Wall is a striking wall dive located on the Lonsdale side of Port Phillip Heads, accessible primarily by boat from the Mornington Peninsula.
This site marks the shallowest section of the Lonsdale Wall, with the reef beginning around 10–12 metres below the surface and then plunging steeply into deeper water — often down to about 30 metres or more.
While the top of the wall starts at relatively accessible depths, making it a good choice for Open Water–certified divers, the wall’s vertical face and deeper sections attract those with Advanced Open Water experience too.
The underwater landscape at Paradise Wall features numerous overhangs, ledges and small caves, offering plenty to explore. These structures provide habitat for a diverse array of marine life, including reef fish, crustaceans and other temperate species typical of southern Australian waters. The rich benthic growth on the wall and the life it supports make for an engaging dive with both structural and biological interest.
Because this site lies inside the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park, it benefits from protected status, though divers still need to carefully plan their dive around tidal conditions and slack water due to the strong currents in “The Rip” at the entrance to Port Phillip.
